Designing transitions

The aim is to pool all activities and provide a  forum for all involved parties (students, teachers, supervisors) to communicate with each others.

“uebergaengegestalten“ addresses “Grundschule, Hauptschule, Realschule and Gymnasium“ and includes transitions to „Wirtschaftsschule“ or vocational schools.

Depending on the school type, materials, information, pictures and videos are available either at "Virtuelle Grundschule" ("Grundschule, Hauptschule, Wirtschaftsschule") or "Virtuelle Schule" (for "Gymnasium"). If necessary, the content of "Uebergaengegestalten" is linked with one of the two plattforms. Examples: picture and video galleries.


Designing transitions: basics

The path of a child is marked by various changes and challenges he or she has to cope with by the help of parents, family members, key carers and professional educators. With their help a child can handle new tasks. However, he or she has to take many steps alone.

How good or bad a child perceives the transition from one educational institution to another one also affects the way he or she will be able to cope with future life situations. That includes the loss of the family´s daily routine when a child attends Kindergarten and later the transistion to „Grundschule“. Moreover joining a secondary school plays a major role for the education of a child. Ideally the child will move on to a vocational school, „Fachhochschule“ or university. Parents. Educators, teachers, educational counsellors and training officers have to pull together to make transitions smooth.
